Her name was Diane Budgel. Thirty years ago, she was a small part in the life of Dave Mercer. Their short-lived, three month relationship was a whirlwind for Dave. They met in a bar and suddenly moved in together. Diane's roommate acted strange--perhaps jealous--which led Dave to believe she was a lesbian, in love with Diane as much as he was.
