My Dear Children: One Step Closer to Jesus is an invitation to my children to walk with me on a discipleship journey of growth, resistance, disobedience, struggle, great joy, and deep longing for God.

This spiritual memoir not only looks backwards through my own learning experience, but calls all children-those with a childlike heart-into exploring with me their own spiritual journey in real time. The invitation is both a call to moment-by-moment living worship to God and a challenge to pursue eight specific areas where God relates with His people. These are Glory, Faith, Love, Obedience, Compassion, Wisdom, Abundant Living, and Perseverance.

Each of the eight areas reveals part of my story and calls to any who will explore their own story before God. At times they have shocked and confronted me. At times they have downright disturbed me in my complacency and negativity. But most of all, they have been a joy to see as goals and blessings to intentionally pursue. All these areas we will journey through are both an ideal destination and a gift on the journey of the Christ-follower's life.
