Product Description

Golden Globe-nominee and Emmy Award-winner Steve Martin stars as a charming, silver-tongued mob informant who, when relocated to a small California town under the Federal Witness Protection Program, turns the community upside down, making life difficult not only for the townsfolk, but for the by-the-books FBI agent who must protect him (Emmy Award-winner Rick Moranis). This delightful comedy was directed by Golden Globe-winner Herbert Ross ("Steel Magnolias," "The Turning Point") and written by Academy Award and Golden Globe-nominee Nora Ephron ("Sleepless In Seattle, " "When Harry Met Sally...").

"Take my keys, take my gun, take me"

I am not going to go into details of the movie "My Blue Heaven"; however, the storyline is about Vinni (Martin), a New York City gangster enrolled in the witness protection program. He is sent to a seemingly innocent town, Fryberg. An FBI agent (Rick Moranis) is assigned to look after him. The agent is a recent ex-husband due to his overly systematic behavior. While attempting to keep Vinni out of trouble, the agent meets an interesting district attorney (Joan Cusack). She is also an ex with two kids. Vinni seizes the opportunity to help the agent and the attorney get to know each other better and, in the process, helps Barney the agent loosen up a bit. On the side, he seizes much more with the help of his (old) new friends. Will anything come of the agent/attorney relationship? Will Vinni find a home, or is he destined for incarceration? See Steve Martin a little more down to earth as an architect in “Housesitter” (1992).

Martin and Moranis gold

The two main characters are hilarious together. And it ends up being about decent people, not what you would expect from the synopsis. Steve Martin is so funny as a gangster and Moranis is quite humorous as the straight man in this film. The characters of definitely exaggerated and the parody of New Yorker mafia man and regimented lawman takes it over the edge some times but always ends up funny and good hearted. A classic Martin film.
