Couldn't put it down!

My Best Cat: A Furry Murder Mystery I love a book that I can't stand to put down until I've read the very last word; this is one such book. The writing style, characters and plot had me transfixed from the first page to the last. I normally can figure out "whodunit" about half way through the best written mystery book, but I didn't know who the culprit was until the very last chapter. I loved the "glossery of characters" concept, a new one for me, as I found myself using it to remind me who was who as I read. There were so many little plotlines, it was almost like reading stories within stories, it kept my interest from the first page to the last. The characters were TRUE characters, some of the strangest folks I've ever "met" in the literary world, and Ms. Bailey's ability to get inside the heads of both the characters AND the critters show that she is a great observer of life in general. I am a long time dog show exhibitor and have always taken into stride the sort of strange world that can be. From time to time I've walked through a cat show and couldn't believe how really strange THAT world is. The people and their relationships with their felines makes dog show people almost seem normal, and some of the cage decorating is almost scary. Best in Show can't hold a candle to THIS book! I hope it gets made into a film, I'd be the first to go see it. If we're lucky, maybe this book will be the first in a series - I can't wait to read the next one! The only fault I can find with My Best Cat is that it wasn't long enough - truly a great read! Lynn Brown

Absolutely don't read this book in public, unless you don't mind people staring at you when you are laughing out loud! An absolutely delightful book that takes a look at the world of showing cats, with a murder thrown in for good measure. Wonderful, unforgetable characters (both 2-legged and 4-legged). You won't be able to put it down!

A great murder mystery for feline fanciers

I bought My Best Cat for my mother in law who loves both cats and murder mysteries and she loved the combination. Looking for a Mother's Day gift or birthday or Christmas present for a hard to shop for mom or mother in law? This is it!

Not since "Best In Show" have I been entertained so well!

I don't know if everyone was as entertained by the movie, "Best in Show" as I was, but seeing it left me wanting MORE! Best Cat was the scratch for my itch. I was given this book for Christmas and I couldn't put it down. The array of personalities and personality disorders was so colorful and entertaining, not to mention the twist at the very end that left me surprised at being so bamboozled. From the heart of gold gay couple to the Goth closet private investigator, Nancy's irreverent sense of humor covered all the social and antisocial aspects of showing animals as a hobby. I was especially impressed by her insight to a cat's heart and mind and why they do what they do. I'm grateful that she is able to provide this information to the public. If this book changes one cat's life as a result, all is not lost!

My Best Cat is a delightful way to experience the fun and foibles of a pedigreed cat show without getting fur all over your clothes. Anyone who has ever shown cats or been involved in a show in any way will instantly recognize many of the characters in this funny who-done-it. It will keep you guessing until the end with a spectacular and unexpected conclusion. The fantiastic cat names were a definite plus to an already wonderful and witty story.
