A book to share with your child

I first read this book to my daughter a year ago, just after she turned six. I believe what this book captures is the love that all of us as parents feel for our children. That said, it brings out that passion in all of of when reading it to our children. From the first time I read this book to my daughter she was thrilled with it, and what a smile she had on her face!! She knew it wasn't just a "story" I was reading to her. She knew it was a story about how much I love her & how I would give the world to her if I could. I no longer read it to her. At seven, she now reads it to me - and always, I still get that same beautiful smile, because she understands the meaning this book is trying to portray!

a Beautiful story

I originally got this in paperback thru my son's book club at daycare and picked up three copies in hardcover, one for me and two for other mothers as gifts. It's short enough that my two year old not only sits thru it, but wants me to read it over and over. The artwork is amazing, and it may not be a "story" but is a beautiful message of love.

From a School Librarian

Within its spare text and quiet illustrations lies the powerful message of teaching a child to appreciate the simple things in life through a parent's unselfish love. This is one of the most beautiful books I have ever read. Perhaps it's because I recently became a mom that this book touches me so deeply - but I can't read it without getting teary eyed. Not really a book I would use as a class read aloud, but a book that I would recommend to students to check out and share with parents at home. I plan to buy a copy for my library, my daughter and as a gift for everyone I know with kids. It's that good.
