My American Hero: George Robert Lauck

My American Hero is the life story of my father, George Lauck from Wellsburg, West Virginia as told by his son Eugene Lauck. The story is based on my dad's pocket diary he carried with him while fighting across North Africa in various tank battles, guarding thousands of prisoners of war, and traveling through several countries and their ancient cities up through Italy where his now battle tested tank company helped liberate Rome, Italy. The book also includes letters home which were penciled on Red Cross Stationery and V Mail while serving in the 1st Armored Division during WWll. The story continues describing his life after he returned home to civilian life, married my mom and raised a family. It concludes with my dad's retirement and honors from various veteran awards. I wrote this book as a tribute to my dad My American Hero and one of the millions referred to as "The Greatest Generation"
