My Adventures Around the World: England and Ireland: Winter 2011

My journey through England and Ireland beginning in London and continuing north and then southwest to Dublin, Ireland. After arriving in London, I immediately made my way to Oxford followed by Bristol. Day trips from Bristol included Bath, Cardiff, Wells, Glastonbury, Salisbury, and Stonehenge.My next base to explore from was the city of York to the north. After seeing all of the sights, an incredible train ride to Carlisle took me through the Moors with my next destination being Newcastle. A day trip to Durham was also quite interesting before continuing to the north and the Scottish city of Edinburgh. From Edinborough, I caught the train west to Glasgow where the weather was brutal preventing me from doing any sightseeing. More trains took me to Ayr and then the ferry port for the ride across to Northern Ireland and the city of Cairnryan. After exploring Belfast in Northern Ireland, I crossed over to Ireland itself and toured Dublin. Cork, Killarney, and Kilkenny were the last stops in the western part of Ireland. Blarney Castle and the Ring of Kerry were major highlights.
