This book describes the constellations as seen by the people of a contemporary Mvskoke / Creek community in the southeastern United States. It explains the process of gathering information about their star lore and the stories that connect the stars with their life and culture. Thirtyfive line drawings show how the stars are organized into images that differ greatly from western constellations, and help the reader locate them in the night sky. Fourty-one night sky features are described and connected with thirty traditional Mvskoke / Creek stories. The stars and stories combine to illuminate the expression of the Mvskoke Way as it is lived by the members of the community. The book shows how patterns in the stars are brought to earth in Mvskoke star lore and life. In this book it is possible for the reader to see the stars in a new way and to gain a better understanding of a world view that emphasizes harmony, wholeness, and respect for all beings.
