Mutatio Valentia: The Late Roman Baths at Valesio, Salento

Dutch excavations between 1984-1990 at localit S. Stefano in the centre of Valesio, the Brindisi region, have revealed the remains of the settlement from the pre-Roman through the Medieval period. This book reports on the excavations of the Imperial road station at Valesio, mutatio Valentia, including a bath building with stables. The reconstruction of the complex is preceded by a detailed description of the excavated remains. The Medieval casale that was built into the baths is also discussed. The architectural section is followed by chapters on the ceramics and other finds of the Imperial and Medieval periods from S. Stefano area.
