Musty: A boy beset by monkeys and puberty.

By Daniel Rinehart

Musty is the story of a fat boy being pursued by a pack of monkeys across the city of Chicago. Musty's real name is Leroy, but a temporary lapse in hygiene has left him with an unfortunate nickname and the self-confidence of a wet kitten. All Musty wants to do is keep his head down and survive the 8th grade, but a combination of fireworks, loose simians, an eccentric father, and a pair of very blonde bullies is arrayed against him.A class trip to the zoo precipitates a life changing adventure. Musty accidently sparks the escape of a trio of female Howler monkeys, builds an award winning model of a race riot, finally gets a little respect, presides over the funeral of a guinea pig, completes a bizarre vision quest, suffers an eviscerating embarrassment and plots a gory tableau of revenge during an emotional all nighter. And that's before the cops get involved.
