While working on a magazine article about the trails of southern Tuscany, Leah Contarini inadvertently witnesses a murder. Her flight from the killer leads her into an ancient burial site and involves her in a web of twisted love that exists beneath the daily life and festivities of the hill town where Leah and her husband, Nick, are living for the year.
