Great Guide for Beginners and Foragers

I am a complete beginner when it comes to identifying mushrooms. However, this book has given me the ability to confidently identify around 20 species in my area! This book was extremely helpful, and was perfect for me. It has over 300 colored photographs of different species, and even gives you information on the ways to separate species that look identical, such as what spore pattern and color they make when you take spore prints. It tells you general information, such as habitat and distribution, as well as fun tidbits such as whether a mushroom is edible and what it commonly tastes like. It also includes a few sections on fungal life and diseases that are commonly found alongside mushrooms, like rusts. If you are interested in foraging,it has a section that explains the dangers of mushroom poisoning, and tips on how to safely collect mushrooms for food. I spend a lot of time outdoors, and I can confidently say that this book is definitely one that I don't mind taking up space in my hiking bag!
