This book is great! It's your basic, average counting book, except that for illustrations, the author has chosen works of art from Boston's Museum of Fine Arts. The works are not just paintings either, but sculpture and clothing as well, from many different cultures around the world. At two and a half, this is the first book my daughter can "read" and she loves reading it to her younger sister. No clever rhymes or extra words, just One Drum, Two Sheep, etc. One complaint: Mummies are a little hard to explain to toddlers; I wish there was a better illustration for that one. My daughter says Mommies, of course. It will be fun to go to the FMA and look for all these things!
great even for toddlers!

I bought the book for me originally in hopes that someday my son would like the book. He is only two and he has surprised me how much he enjoys looking at the artwork. He especially likes getting "quized" on the artwork at the very end. We ask him "where is the drum", "where is the sheep", "where is the mice" and he is able to pick out the artwork with no problems. I am learning more about pieces of art right along with my two year!
