Murida faced many battles: In 1948, when she was just five years old, she fled the bombardment of Palestine with her parents and two sisters. Twenty-nine years later, in 1977, when Murida was a young mother and the Lebanese civil war was at its height, Murida and her family fled their Beirut refugee camp for the United Arab Emirates. In that new country, Murida struggled to make ends meet, raise her children, and deal with her husband. Then, in 2006, she faced her most difficult and personal battle: against the disease that couldn't be named.
