Following her debut in MURDER IN GALENA(2003), Karen Prince, the lawyer-turned-artist and amateur sleuth, returns in MURDER ON THE MISSISSIPPI, by Sandra Principe. As the book opens, Karen is hosting a gala event on a Mississippi river boat to celebrate the first grant made by the Turning Points Foundation, which she founded after winning the Power Ball lottery. But the evening goes badly awry when not one but two of the guests plunge into the Mississippi under mysterious circumstances. Karen is thus propelled into a confusing tangle of blackmail, intrigue and murder that places her own life in jeopardy as she struggles to bring order out of the chaos that follows. As with MURDER IN GALENA, Principe again demonstrates her talent for developing strong, believable and sympathetic characters, as well as the ability to create vivid depictions of the settings in which the action unfolds, whether in Galena, along the Mississippi, or on the Hawaiian island of Kauai. Those readers who enjoyed Karen Prince's first adventure will certainly want to sign on for this one; those who haven't yet made her acquaintance will want to do so at the earliest opportunity.
