Alex Caanaugh had grown up wanting to be a cop, but right out of college he enlisted in the U.S. Army where he was commissioned and then sent to Afghanistan as a squad commander.

After serving two years in the most harrowing of situations, his commitment to the Army was up and he took his discharge and headed home. Reconnecting to his family and his surroundings, it was not long before he applied to be a city cop in his hometown of Sandy Cove, California.

He rose through the ranks quite rapidly and ended up as a detective. One of the first real dilemmas on the force was when he had to arrest his training officer. But that, too, led to more advancements and soon, he found himself being entrenched in the underbelly of crime in his city.

This book highlights the different cases he was involved in, and also includes how he fell in love with his former high school girlfriends, married her, and even began raising a family.
