Book Overview

Library Journal Science Fiction/Fantasy Debut of the Month (April 2013) Reimagining the Greek Gods of Olympus and placing them on modern Earth, this urban fantasy novel focuses on Plato Jones, who, after a stint with the Olympic Bureau of Investigation, is through with the Gods and their political games. While at first glance the Gods of Olympus are as different from one another as salt is from sugar, and despite their bickering, they share a universal bond, a thread of commonality that unites them: they're all jerks. Against Plato's protests, he's drawn into a murder investigation where the murderer's targets are the Gods themselves. Plato has cracked some tough cases: exposing cheating spouses, capturing treasonous heretics, and hunting three-headed dogs, but this time he's in over his head. How can he solve a crime that's impossible to commit? And what chance does Plato-a mere mortal-have against something powerful enough to kill a God?

Great first book!

I found out about this book from a friend of the author. I saw the title and was intrigued because who doesn't love a good murder mystery? I started reading and could tell right away that this was either someone's first book or a person who has an imagination but just can't put it on paper. So what I'm saying is that this read likes a first novel, but the story and imagery is definitely there; this Warren guy is going to do good things when he gets more pages under his belt. That being said, Plato Jones is an amazing character! He's witty and smart and the kind of character that you care about what happens to him because he reminds you of a good friend or fam member. The other characters of the book, the Greek gods and goddesses of Olympus, are portrayed in a way that Disney wouldn't approve. Warren puts them in a light that is neither stuffy and boring nor childish. Warren makes them cool again. I won't say anymore except this book is one you must read! Can't wait for the next one!!
