This book took me back in time to a place I've always wondered about -- Mount Monadnock and the now-ruined Halfway House Hotel that once drew guests from all over the country and world. I felt like I was right there on the Black Precipice with the inspector and his brother. The action kept me turning pages until two in the morning, the imagery was vivid, and the mystery itself was compelling. I hope I see more of Inspector Robert de la Tour, and I can't wait to climb Mount Monadnock this spring and visit some of the sites where the action took place!
