Good Start With Promise for a Series

I found interest, some freshness, characters I could keep up with, yet with sufficient variety. My experience has shown "Christmas mysteries" to turn out surprisingly well. It is a bit wordy in the characterizations as it goes. Hopefully, the series will show improvement on that element in the succeeding editions.
