Book Overview

Broadway's bad-boy genius, Paul Carlucci, has chosen Hamlet for his latest production. To the delight of some and despair of others, he has selected Provincetown's amphitheatre for his opening gala.

The cast are holed up in various B&B's around town. Staying next door to Alex Peres is Terese Segal, an "embedded journalist" busy digging up dirt on the players. When Terese is killed, no one is especially surprised or grief stricken. But the play must go on--and does. In true Shakespearean tradition, the stage will be strewn with bodies of the guilty, and the moment of vengeance begins.

But suddenly Alex realizes that the wrong people are falling down. And the moaning is all too realistic. Someone must not be shooting blanks...

Mystery and humor

I stumbled onto the Alex Peres mysteries this summer and have enjoyed very bit of getting to know Alex, Fargo, and the gang. This author is a master at creating characters and a story that holds the reader's attention and keeps you coming back for more. Alex's insecurities and shortcomings are presented in a way that makes her character funny and genuine-- from her approach to relationships to her terrible eating habits. Provincetown is also painted in a way that makes you feel as if you're there. I can't wait for the next book in the series!
