Book Overview

Addie Greyborne loved working with rare books at the Boston Public Library--she even got to play detective, tracking down clues about mysterious old volumes. But she didn't expect her sleuthing skills to come in so handy in a little seaside town ...

Addie left some painful memories behind in the big city, including the unsolved murder of her fianc and her father's fatal car accident. After an unexpected inheritance from a great aunt, she's moved to a small New England town founded by her ancestors back in colonial times--and living in spacious Greyborne Manor, on a hilltop overlooking the harbor. Best of all, her aunt also left her countless first editions and other treasures--providing an inventory to start her own store.

But there's trouble from day one, and not just from the grumpy woman who runs the bakery next door. A car nearly runs Addie down. Someone steals a copy of Alice in Wonderland. Then, Addie's friend Serena, who owns a nearby tea shop, is arrested--for killing another local merchant. The police seem pretty sure they've got the story in hand, but Addie's not going to let them close the book on this case without a fight ...

Very good read...

Yes, it's very good and hard to put down once you started. You'll enjoy the characters and want to read more about Addie and Serena. Almost like the old Nancy Drew series, but better!

Sorry, this book was not for me. I could not finish it and unfortunately I'd ordered 3 others from

The characters in this book were simply not real. The brother (the police chief) of one of the main characters acted as if he actually thought his beloved sister could be a murderer. The plot was so disorganized I could not make heads or tails of it. No I will not order from this author again.

Plenty of Suspects

.📚 MY REVIEW 📚 This was a great start to Beyond the Page Bookstore Mystery series. This is the first book I've read by this author and it won't be the last! Most of characters are great and well developed . There is alot going on very early in the book but the Author does a fantastic job of weaving it all together. The only downside was there were way too many characters to keep track of. Which made it a bit overwhellming. I really like Addie, Serena, Marc, and Paige. The author does a great job of creating that small town setting and making you feel as if you was right there. The plot is well done with plenty of action and suspects. I did figure out the suspect but it did not take away from the story at all. I can not wait to see what kind of trouble Addie gets herself into next. I really enjoyed MURDER BY THE BOOK and highly recommend it to any cozy mystery reader, especially those who enjoy a bookstore setting.
