Murder at the May Day Fête: An Ashcombe Village Mystery

By Ellie Hamilton

Murder, maypoles, and sponge cake-spring in the English countryside has never been deadlier.

When Sir Reginald Beaumont collapses during Ashcombe's beloved May Day f te, whispers of a weak heart spread quickly through the village. But retired headmistress Maggie Harris suspects something far darker. With her loyal circle of friends-the outspoken Dot, the calm and clever Eleanor, and the ever-watchful Hal-Maggie begins to peel back the layers of rivalry, resentment, and long-held secrets hidden beneath the charm of village life.

From the proud pub landlady now under suspicion, to the aristocratic Lady Penelope guarding her family's reputation, to a nervous young baker with more to hide than her sponge recipe, everyone seems to have something they'd rather keep quiet. But when Inspector Barnes fastens on the wrong suspect, it's up to Maggie and her friends to follow the clues, uncover the truth, and protect an innocent villager before it's too late.

Set against the rolling hills and honey-stone cottages of the Cotswolds, Murder at the May Day F te is a delightful cozy mystery filled with wit, warmth, and a dash of danger. Perfect for fans of Agatha Christie, Jeanne M. Dams, and M.C. Beaton, this is the first book in the charming new Ashcombe Village Mysteries series.
