Murder at College Night is the sixth novel in The Dowdy & Summers Murder Mystery Series, which is the fifth series of novels for MW Burdette. This mystery features Mike Summers, Mary Sweetwater, and Gary Dowdy, and new trainee Candice Bridges, who had recently joined in an investigation of the Baldwin County stalker. Mary and Candice had set themselves us as bait to attract the stalker in an attempt to identify and catch him before he harmed anyone else.

Mike Summers and Gary Dowdy began their detective agency after the crash of the stock market and the real estate market in 2008. Their first case focused on the murder of one of their own, another realtor from their old firm. Their second famous case arose when the seventeen-year-old daughter of a prominent Ashburn banker vanished into thin air from the Ashburn University campus during her freshman orientation week. Their third case was a bizarre and mysterious murder spree in Huntsville, Alabama, that revolved around the bombastic mayor. Their next case was all about discrediting a university sports program second to none in college athletics in the United States. Their latest case was to determine who was stalking young women in the Baldwin County Alabama area, and if he were merely looking or intended to do much more with his victims. This new case hit close to home because there had been a murder during the College Night performance at the Ashburn University Theatre.
