Fundamentally, it seems important to recognise the developments that are now emerging and to set the right course for the coming years. It is therefore also necessary to consider how municipal work will look in the medium to long term. The vision is that in future, the municipal office will be a centre of expertise for all residents, with strong roots in the community. The first steps towards this are the establishment of citizen service centres. The aim must be to enable all citizens and businesses to carry out all public administration procedures electronically, quickly and easily, without any special knowledge of responsibilities or technical expertise. Municipalities will also have to compete in the free market. In project management in particular, public administration will have to compete with the private sector. Good motivation of employees, in the sense that they engage with their work as a whole, is a prerequisite for the functioning of public management.
