As a SELF-HELP tool for students who got behind in math due to the Times Table hurdle , this workbook can get them caught up in about 45 day.. Because there is a shortcut , that other cultures have used with great success for ages. The trick is ...whenever the multiplier has a greater numeric value than the multiplicand ... simply interchange the digits mentally. The multiplier moves to the upper place and the multiplicand moves down by the x on the line. This workbook calls the first format "normal " and the second way "flipped ". Each is a separate math fact. But a more compact chart than the traditional times tables results. And the whole job of memorization is cut almost in half . The 3x row starts with 3x3; rather than 3x2 (vertically) since 3x2 appears above as the flipped form. The 4x row starts indented with 4x4 rather than with 4x2 and 4x3 because they are above also already. Others must systematically write them out etc. Predictably there are usually some students who need more time ; b ut no extra thing like a game or workbook is assigned to them .
