A rollicking novel about tennis and the social turbulence of the 60s

This captivating, rollicking, California coming-of-age novel was published in 1982. It's simultaneously a tale about the game of tennis at the professional level, about life in coastal Southern California in the 60s, and about the wrenching generational and social conflicts of those times. Set during the Vietnam War period, it's the story of the Muldoon family, Louise Fraser Muldoon, a tennis great on a par with Alice Marble and Helen Wills Moody, William Muldoon, a tennis writer of accomplishment and acclaim, and their son, Will Muldoon, an erstwhile phenom who abandoned the game in the wake of his parents' collapsed marriage. In those publications that gave this winsome novel some attention when it was released, the reviews were quite full of praise and admiration. For any aficionado of the game and for any student of the turbulent 60s in America, MULDOON will be a great literary pleasure.
