Mud Pies and Me: A Merry Mixture of Memories

Travel with me as we journey back in time to the 1950s and 60s. Within these pages I share vivid memories in stories, poems and pictures of my life growing up in a rural Georgia community. A few stories are more recent and reflect life in South Carolina.My life as a country girl was uncomplicated and carefree. My intent is not to burden the reader with a dreary recollection of hardships that every family faces. Rather, I offer a glimpse into small events and situations chock full of the elements that make life good. Mostly, this is a happy book of simple everyday occurrences. Here you will find a well-traveled journey of self-discovery and character building. Fondly looking back, my appreciation grows everyday for all I have received from kindhearted, loving people. Although we were far from rich monetarily; family, friends and community were so caring and warm that I never really noticed. In a subtle way my upbringing felt grand and glorious. This written account brings life to a time that is quickly fading. May these poems and brief stories interest and amuse you. I thank God for wonderful people who inspired me with lasting impressions and sprinkled my life with laughter and love.
