I think Muck is gorgeous. Devastatingly beautiful in its construction and the choice of components. The labor of it is pure. If it were a chair it would last a long, long time under many fannies that would polish it beyond even its present lustre. (And while the book's conceit is showy, I would rather dwell on what I loved.)
Mucking good fun.

I picked Muck up while traveling in New York last summer. Perfect place to read it--the book's fast-paced, angry, funny and violent. I laughed out loud in at least ten places, mostly in scenes with the ancient, monkey-eating, fat, crippled homosexual cat.

Wretched but funny, stupid but clever, this is a book you should read when you feel like offing 10 or 20 people: it satisfies the old bloodlust.
Wicked fun for the strong of stomach.

This book made me laugh and cringe all the way through. It's about a homeless guy and his fat cat and all the adventures they get into. The guy keeps a diary that gets published only after he dies, and is edited by a crazy paranoid named N.J. Dodick (the author's real name). While I would not recommend this book to anyone who has problems with excessive violence or bestiality, I do think it's a very funny, very smart book
