Excellent for the young traveller

I brought this book and Frommer's Spain with me to Spain when I studied abroad there for a year in Zaragoza, and I cannot tell you how useful it was. Frommer's more often than not stayed home unless I needed a more "full" list of cultural sites, especially in Toledo or Cordoba. The MTV guide provided excellent hostel recommendations for the budget traveller and amazing cafe and restaurant recommendations. I am vegetarian (VERY hard in Spain) and this guidebook had some of the most fantastic veggie restaurants to get a bang for you euro (notably Vegaviana in Madrid). Also, it is geared towards the traveller who uses public transport over renting a car--unlike Frommer's. A few mishaps from this guidebook nonetheless....some of the clubs they listed in Madrid--one we went to ended up being a gay bar when the book listed it under the non-gay section. On the other hand, the music was excellent at this disco and we had a good time regardless of the lack of straight men. MTV gives a very good review for San Sebastian, while only touching on Bilbao (a city I prefer over the tourist-ridden San Sebastian). It also hates on Pamplona (understandable in my opinion) and there is a little hate on Zaragoza. I would like to clear the air: Zaragoza, though not a tourist destination at all, is one of the most culture-rich cities and is extremely livable. Nightlife here is awesome, especially during the Pilares (the saint of Zaragoza a la the Virgin Mary) festivals in October, and the tortilla de patata here is the best in all of Spain I think. Try Tabernillas on Ponzano 10 and for classic churros con chocolate, try the churrería on Calle de Prudencio off of Calle Alfonso Overall, if you are under, say 26 and you are looking to go to Spain and also have a good time, this guidebook is excellent and highly recommended--not to mention the author is hilarious.
