Very depressing read

I must say I have not read anything more depressing, with maybe the exception of “We the Living” by Ayn Rand. I have to confess that I could not finish this book. It may work for some people who are not sensitive to this type of story. I must say that the book seems well researched. I have nothing against the writing style. The bottom line is, do not live in Victorian England; if you do, do not keep a diary.

A very accurate portrayal of the oppressed sexual state women were subjected to during the Victorian age in England.
