I am now re-reading this book to my children (boys 6 & 9) having read it last when I was 10. It has engaged them more than many books, in that each evening it elicits questions from them about nature, animals, and living. It's a wonderful life story of the amazing Helen Perley of Scarborough, Maine. Her adventures of her childhood summers spent in the woods with her girlfriends tracking and trapping animals are beautifully described as are her adult years running her "White Animal Farm". Highly recommended for young and old.
