I enjoyed the transitions from past to present and the segments for each main character. The author succeeded in building characters you want to see find themselves beneath the layers of facade and pain. I couldn't put it down!

I absolutely loved reading this book! the writing was stupendous and the storyline really grasped my attention. It is a hefty read but it was a heavily interesting storyline that i believe many women can relate to. Not only does it address the issues of women inequality throughout the years of 60’s- present , but they take on the struggles of the gay community throughout these years and toxic family relationships (which i truly appreciated). Both of the main characters are very relatable (one being a tomboy and the other being more feminine like) and how their daily lives and the environment around changed their ways of living and opinions on certain subjects and life issues, which i believe many of us have experienced. This book is definitely one of my favorites.
