A classic book

"Moving Up in Style" is a classic for anyone interested in some of the key elements in a Man's life: Clothing, Furniture, Art and Music. The advice given is timeless. Where the book begins to show its age is that the authors chose to provide relative, current prices for many items. Having owned this book when I was a young man beginning his career, the prices seemed out of reach. Now, thirty years later, they seem quaint. Likewise, the discussion of music seems antiquated, because CDs and MP3s did not yet exist, and so they were focused on vinyl records. Notwithstanding these minor foibles, "Moving Up in Style" is a book that I still enjoy re-reading, and I can recommend it heartily.

A great guide to the American style.

I have read this book several times since the 80's. I think that althought the authors and others may feel that this book is silly, what I think they fail to realize is that there are some of us who came to the US from other countries and find this book to be a good quide to the American style and way of thinking. Thanks God for books like this to teach us the exciting and different ways of the American culture.
