When she packed up her bags, her family, and her life, to depart the United States for a permanent move to Israel, Laura Ben-David never knew that Aliyah would be the most emotional, frustrating,... This description may be from another edition of this product.
The author describes in a series of journal entries and in a light-hearted way the problems she and her family encountered not only in emigrating to Israel, but living there as well. She also describes with obvious awe and reverence the places she and her family visits that are of significance to their faith such as the wailing wall, or the Kotel as I believe they call it, and the tomb of the patriarchs. If you want to know what it's like for a Jewish family to go and live in the land promised to them by God then by all means, read this book.

This is a good book for anyone who is beginning to think about making aliyah. The author share's her first-hand account of the trials and tribulations as well as the joys of moving with her family to Israel. She mentions what they chose to give up in the way of material possessions to live the dream of Jews all over the world. It is clear that her love of Israel is what sustains her. Laura ben David writes in a way that can make one believe that if she can do it, so can I.

This book is an excellent interpretation of life as an Oleh in Israel. It is a great "real life" perspective for one to read especially if they are considering making Aliyah. Very funny. I really enjoyed the book and highly reommend it.

I am one of the very privelaged who got a chance to read this book as it grew along the way. Starting out as email journal sent to family and friends, this book brings you the story of one family's exciting journey as they moved from Boca Raton, Florida to Neve Daniel in Israel. The book will spark your interest and captivate your mind as the writer brings you on a most wonderful journey called Aliyah. I really hope this book is "Moving Up" to the top of the charts!!!
