Loving hearts are really the ties that bind in military marriages

Our family has finally recovered from our tears of laughter, of remembrance, and of delight. We smiled while reading and felt sad when finished. We loved the story of the young wife, desolate and away from all those who are familiar, in strange towns and settings, as she finds and builds "community" with dear new people. She tells of being sustained by her faith and the devotion to and from her husband who was on the long ladder toward career advancement. The book is a tribute to military wives and to all other wives who have followed their husbands to exotic, strange, and even dangerous places and to all those spouses who sought to support their dearly loved ones. So frequently while reading "Moves...and Other Four Letter Words" one can think of the old word "helpmeet" as Joan Brown describes her own joys and travails. Much should be made of this book. It is a joy to read and is one of the happiest and wisest books ever to sit on a bookshelf. Young wives, military or civilian, have much to learn from "Move... and Other Four Letter Words" about the scope of patience, faith, devotion, and hard work necessary to produce joy and success within marriage. Definitely a recommended book. A very good read! To paraphrase our son's words when he was just a small boy, "Ha, ha. You done good, kiddo!" Right, Joan Brown. Very very good.

This is a page turning memoir of the distaff side of military life. It brought to life many memories of our twenty plus years of service. Many people are aware of the sacrifices the serviceman makes and his heroic actions, but few people know how his family survives the disruptive and hectic life they endure. "Move" tells the story with tongue in cheek humor. Joan, paints great pictures in words of how she went from a reluctant participant of military life to loving it so much that she didn't want to leave it behind. Th book drew me in immediately because I needed to know what happened next. It held my interest because I could relate to its real life expereinces. You don't have to have had a military life to enjoy "Move". With todays envirorment of change we are all subject to lifes disruptions, "Move" relates to us all.
A terrific book you'll want to share

"MOVE" can serve as a memorable deja vu journey for some, or as inspiration for others who may be involved in a mobile lifestyle that introduces unforeseen challenges as well as exciting opportunities for growth and discovery. Follow the "drapes". . . .a theme skillfully used by Brown throughout. The author will convince you that things do work out, for the better. A fun book.
