A mountain doctor’s self-sacrificing life in the Appalachian mountains of North Carolina. Every mode

I live in North Carolina and have heard of this clinic from the past. This book explores the work of Dr Gaines cannon and his devotion to the medical care of his mountain folk! The latter part of the book recounts Dr cannon’s visit to meet his hero, Dr Albert Schweitzer, and work at his hospital in Africa . An obvious comparison can be made of how far we’ve come in medical care but more importantly how the past can teach us a true lesson in human compassion and self sacrifice. A good read!
