My mission with this book is to assist new managers in identifying problems, recognizing the similarities to problems I encountered, and offering possible solutions to those problems.I have selected a few anecdotes from my experiences to illustrate certain points. Each one taught me a lesson--- not necessarily at the moment, but sometimes years later. (You could say I'm a slow learner.) It would be na ve of me to think that each of the stories will teach you something; however, they may stimulate your memory of other events that had a positive impact in your life and remind you of a particular lesson you learned from it. After all, the school of hard knocks is a pretty good teacher.
