She studied English and Theology at Sarah Lawrence College, earned a Master of Arts in Teaching from Emory University, and ran a 300-head sheep dairy before earning her MFA in Nature Writing and Poetry from Western Colorado University. She still lives in Atlanta with her partner, two children, three dogs, and 25 chickens.
