Moses and the Prophets

Here is an accessible, teachable study for adult Bible classes or small groups that looks at Moses, Elijah, and Elisha as real people and not just characters in a story. Moses of course was the compiler of the Law that was the foundation of ancient Israel's religion and culture. Elijah was the embodiment of the great Old Testament prophets. The significance of these two was later confirmed when they appeared at the transfiguration of Jesus. Elisha is included in this study because he completed some of the key tasks given to Elijah. All three are fascinating men, and very human, with their own character defects and unique personalities.Focusing on the narrative, biographical sections of scripture in which these three appear, we will follow them as they struggle to understand and live out God's will for their lives, and apply some lessons for doing the same in our lives. Scott's material has been taught and refined in real classes and is very teachable, with large pages, the full text of most scriptures cited, and effective discussion questions that help the participants explore and discover for themselves. This material is geared towards general adult audiences, not too academic, but still challenging and practical.
