Take a light-hearted jaunt to unlock the hidden mysteries of Mormon urban legends, faith-promoting rumors, and alluring facts and fallacies. Scores of researchers and experts weigh in on issues not exactly critical to your salvation, but ones you've always wondered about. Did Elvis really read the Book of Mormon? Find out about these-and more!
It is about time a book like this appeared in LDS bookstores. The book was also a pleasant surprise as it was not the fluffy bits of folklore the cover did suggest. Hunter's work is a surprisingly well-researched (probably not so surprising considering the man's job) work on doctrinal myths many of which I have never heard--as well as the fun stuff like the Bear Lake Monster and those crazy missionary stories. Hunter presents his research simply, but with plenty of information. Alongside the bogus myths are plenty of related true stuff that is as just as if not more fascinating. The appendices as the end are useful as well. Throughout, Hunter still maintains a level of spirituality and a firm reminder to stick to the basics of the gospel and research anything sensational that comes our way. Definitely a fun and educational read.
