more than a feeling: a love letter to my grandmother

A love letter can be as profound as an action but will always begin with a memory. My grandmother has been my biggest blessing my entire life and chose to be there for me in my most vulnerable moments; I want to commemorate her being so that someone else may be able to feel my love for her. Being an observant child was something that I took great pride in; being able to look through people and understand their thoughts and feelings without explicitly hearing them. I had always picked that up from my grandmother who had, for her entire life, served her family diligently. No matter how far back my memory takes me; she was always the first person I admired and the first person who took care of me. There has always been the controversy regarding generational gaps within foreign families; and I'm no stranger to them, but regardless of age and those driving factors that separated three generations in my family; we were the same. "To be loved, is to be known," coined C.S. Lewis, a British writer and theologist, and he was right. To her, I was the most special person in her life and she made it obvious with the way she understood me and read my mind. To her, as a grown woman who had raised four children, she relearned habits and behaviors to be able to do right by me.
