Book Overview

The drama of the teen years is played out in these thirty-four scenes and monologs for young actors. Written as teens speak and encompassing the myriad of emotions typical of the "growing up" years, the scenes in this drama book cover real-life situations from teen experiences. The script lengths vary from two to twelve minutes. Themes include bulimia, gossip, jealousy, self-esteem, friendship, fitting in, tests, and relationships -- experiences to laugh and cry about. Scenes are included for boys, girls, and mixed casts. Royalty-free performance with book purchase.

Another Winner from KO

As a high school theatre teacher, I am always on the lookout for dramatic material that will interest and challenge beginning actors. Like its predecessor, "More Scenes That Happen" provides the only good source that I have ever found of scenes written specifically for high school actors. Ms. Krell-Oishi is a gifted writer who has a good sense of character and knows how to write dialogue that students can relate to. She has lots of scenes with 3 or more characters, good scenes for many girls (something I am always looking for). Another advantage of the scenes is that they are self contained. They don't come from a play and therefore do not require the students to read the play in order to play the scene. I love these books and cannot imagine teaching theatre without them.

Good for beginners

While this is not high or classic drama, I beleive that this book (and its predecessor) are good books for high school students new to acting and performance. Save for a few scenes, I would not recommend these for more advanced actors. They are good short scenes with which the high school student can relate. Additionally, there are good three person scenes included, which I have a hard time finding.
