"Heartfelt, bizarre, and unexpected. . . . At once a novel about family and love, a creepy tale that questions what it means to be human, and a celebration of queer stories, Monstrilio is as shocking... This description may be from another edition of this product.
This book is pretty much everything I enjoy in a horror- lots of lqbtq characters, a tasteful amount of gore, stunning writing, and a weird little monster guy. I love my weird little monster guys, and I fell in love with Monstrilio in this book. Be warned though, trying to explain what this book is about to unsuspecting family members who were just wondering what I was reading proved to be difficult.

An intrepid journey through grief and delving into the struggle of growing up not into what your parents wanted. A cast chock full of queer characters that was a breath of fresh air. All the characters felt very human in their faults and fears (even if how they decided to deal with it made me curse). It being told through multiple POVs helped connect with each of them.
