An excellent apocalyptic horror story about a young woman named Alex, who at the beginning of the story is dying of brain cancer. An EMP blast knocks out all electronics and Alex is forced to survive the wilderness and carnivorous zombie-teens while mothering eight year-old Ellie, whose grandfather dies early in the attack. A twist of fate leads the duo into the care of Tom, a young army veteran struggling with PTSD and trauma. This novel is all about found family and explores the limits of love: how much are you willing to go through to be with your family again?
