Monsoon

Townsville community and parts of North Queensland had been drought-stricken for many years. In early 2019 the region happily welcomed a monsoon. The monsoon settled over Townsville bringing much-needed rain to all the catchment areas. The Ross River Dam levels rose to 250% capacity. As the dam gates were opened to release water over 3000 homes were flooded. This community bore witness to an event that became a story of survival and resilience as thousands of people evacuated their homes with the assistance of the army.
