This study is based on the evaluation of Lake Shkodra watershed, Drini and Buna rivers, which are exposed to various sources of pollutions, related with the discharge of waste waters, industrial and urban pollution, agricultural activities etc. Physico-chemical and microbiological characteristics of the watershed of the lake are not only affected by anthropogenic pollutions, but it is worth mentioning that the purity of surface waters of Lake Shkodra are closely connected with the change of weather conditions, which are associated with the increased runoff of streams and rivers that flow into the lake, especially in spring and fall season, increased rainfalls, snow, erosion phenomenon, flooding, etc. This study provides an assessment on the state of water quality, water basin of Lake Shkodra, based on physico-chemical and microbiological parameters of sampling points: Shiroka, Zogaj, Zus, Drini river, Buna river, Kamic?, Sterbeq, Middle Lake. Assessment of quality of water was conducted in accordance with Directives 76/160/EEC and 2006/7/EC of the European Parliament. In accordance with these Directives were determined total coliforms, Escherichia coli and Intestinal enterococcus.
