Great Gift for Moms and Dads Too

Each page of this amusing, encouraging, inspiring, useful book contains a story, reflection, prayer, relevant quotation, and suggested web site for more on the topic at hand. Topics range from Guess Who I Punched Today to Value Checkup, and include sections relating the spiritual and corporal works to everyday tasks of motherhood. O'Connell-Cahill, a wife, mother of three, and editor, offers quotations that make us ponder and smile. Pope Paul VI said, "Every mother is like Moses. She does not enter the promised land. She prepares a world she will not see." And Erma Bombeck always listed ironing as her second-favorite household chore, her first being, "hitting my head on the top bunk bed until I faint." The author's own prayers are based on the daily reality of family life and dished up in manageable portions, for example, "Just for today, we can stop wasting time trying to be perfect. No one expects that, least of all God" and "Today be grateful for that place within yourself that allows you to dig deep for strength to rise above chaos" and "Let me not overreact to the dark days of mothering, for they are many. Let me ask for help when I need it." This is a wonderful gift for moms, and maybe even dads.
