If you every have the opportunity to buy this book, do so! I found (and still find) a few of the stories to be rather creepy... but they're amazingly written, with what seems to be a solid scientific foundation. One of my favourites, and I'm looking for an extra copy for when mine wears out.
Educational and entertaining! Read them aloud any time.

I love these stories and so do my children. They are challenging, fascinating and exciting. Thank heaven there is a glossary included! Reading them aloud prompts a lot of "Mom, what does this mean?" and "how do you spell that's?". Great for teaching science on the sly! Below is an excerpt from the book and a note about the author ... - Molecular Ramjet: "My medical emergency was fortuitous. LIAR took the opportunity to help me, his programmer friend, and at the same time gain a direct link to a human mind. Remember, LIAR's understanding of the Universe was much different than ours. He was programmed to use all levels of mathematics and accepted these as literal truth. As a result,LIAR recognized his human creators as having extensions in reality other than just flesh and bone. He was startled to learn that we didn't appear to fathom this fact. It was then that LIAR realized he needed to meld with me completely if he was to understand the true meaning of existence."About the author:"The author is a laboratory scientist and microbiologist in Seattle. He has co-authored scientific papers and presented research results at many scientific meetings. A science fiction fan as a youth, he feels those stories spawned his own driving interest in the sciences. As a result of this interest, he has always told his own children high tech bedtime stories. At the urging of his wife and children, he began writing them down. This book is his first published collection."
