In this book, it will be explained how the leadership of a statesman works at a deep and most general level. The statesman will be called here the king or the modern king. The terms kingship and statesmanship are used for the same concept. A general model of modern leadership will be presented first, which is then used to construct a general model of modern statesmanship. The results will be surprising. For example, the models reveal that a leader of a group is the person that must look and behave most like an ideal image that lives in the minds of the group members. This ideal image is of central importance to the identity and being of the group. Statesmanship is then about a statesman/king that must look and behave most like an ideal image that lives in the minds of the people in a nation or culture. The concept of king or statesman is used here in a general sense. At the deeper level of understanding, there is no difference between a king, a queen, an emperor, a president, or any type of statesmen. These differences come with politics, organization, and history, which are not relevant for the discussion here. The models can also be applied to what is called here statesmanship or kingship in the organization. This leads to a meaningful concept which can be applied in organizations exhibiting certain qualities that will be explained. This book was also published under the title 'Modern Kingship: With Applications to Organizational Leadership'.
