By William Stanley Rubin and William S. Rubin

Book Overview

""Modern Sacred Art and the Church of Assy"" by William Stanley Rubin is a comprehensive exploration of the intersection of contemporary art and religious practice. The book focuses on the Assyrian Church of the East, a Christian denomination with roots in ancient Mesopotamia, and its embrace of modern art as a means of expressing its faith. Rubin examines the history of the Assyrian Church, its artistic traditions, and the ways in which it has adapted to the modern world. He also profiles a number of contemporary artists who have created works inspired by the church's teachings and aesthetics. Through interviews with artists, clergy, and scholars, Rubin provides a rich and nuanced portrait of the complex relationship between religion and art in the 21st century. The book is illustrated with full-color photographs of artworks and church interiors, making it a visually stunning and intellectually stimulating read for anyone interested in the intersection of art, religion, and culture. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
